Jasneath Education was established in late 2021 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, by Dr Amanda J. Harper; BMus(Ed), GCertPubSectMgmnt, GCertResearch, GDipSocSci(Psych), MEd(Hons)(Gifted Ed), PhD.
Dr Amanda is a passionate gifted education academic and educator, Tasmanian history author, and performing arts practitioner.
Amanda's career has always involved education, beginning in 1988 as a music teacher in primary and high schools, then in curriculum development and leadership, and adult learning before moving into academia as a gifted education specialist, having gained her Master of Education (Honours) (UNE), and her PhD (UTAS) in gifted education. Amanda is actively involved in the international gifted education community, and also volunteers with the Tasmanian Association for the Gifted.
Amanda has had several articles published in international journals, is a Contributing Editor for the prestigous Roeper Review, an American peer-reviewed gifted education journal, and has contributed a chapter entitled 'Through the Dąbrowski Lens: Wisdom, transformational giftedness and the Personality Ideal', to the Palgrave Handbook of Transformational Giftedness for Education (2022), edited by Robert Sternberg, Don Ambrose and Sareh Karami.
In additional to her work in gifted education, Amanda has always been passionate about musical theatre and the beautiful Theatre Royal in Hobart. In 2004 Amanda authored her sumptuous coffee-table book Treading the Boards: A Popular History of the Theatre Royal, Hobart and the Theatre Royal Light Opera Company (2004).
More recently Amanda's research skills have come to the fore in her authorship of the family history text, The Peacock Family: From Taunton to Tasmania which traces the lives of George Stromborn Peacock, his ancestors, and descendants, and features rare photographs of the family.
The beauty of Tasmania is also highlighted throughout the site. All wilderness and nature photographs featured on the Jasneath Education pages have been taken by Dr Amanda on travels around the island state.
Acknowledgement of Country:
I, as an individual and on behalf of Jasneath Education, acknowledge that I live, work, and base this business on lutruwita (Tasmania) Aboriginal land, sea and waterways. I pay my deepest respects to the oldest continuing culture in the world: to lutruwita elders past, present and emerging, and extend this acknowledgement to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people visiting this site or accessing my work.
